Concept external rear image of loft conversion and rear extension in London

This renovation project was focused on transforming an existing property to align with the client’s personal style while modernising its infrastructure and layout. The ground floor was designed to retain a front reception room, with a large kitchen and dining area at the back of the property. The design also included a side infill extension, with options for a small rear extension being considered. The rear garden was to be re-landscaped to accommodate a small garden office at the back, enhancing the property’s functionality. On the first floor, the front two bedrooms were combined to form a spacious master suite, complete with a walk-through dressing room and an ensuite bathroom. The design explored ways to optimise the space, particularly in areas with varied floor and ceiling heights, especially at the rear of the first floor. A rear bedroom was repurposed as a permanent office, while a new loft extension provided a guest bedroom with a bathroom. The first-floor bathroom was redesigned with a focus on simplicity and practicality, ensuring an efficient layout without complications related to waste management.

Brief

The goal of this renovation was to create a modern, functional home that reflected the client’s taste while enhancing the overall flow and usability of the space. The ground floor featured an open-plan kitchen and dining area, possibly extending to the rear or side of the property. The first floor saw the creation of a luxurious master suite, alongside a reimagined bathroom layout that maximised space and avoided unnecessary complexity. Additionally, a new loft extension introduced a guest suite, while the rear garden was transformed into an inviting outdoor space with the potential for a garden office. The design carefully considered spatial relationships, ceiling heights, and the overall sense of openness, ensuring a harmonious balance between practicality and aesthetics.
